Infant Massage Class – Free Parent & Baby Session

We’re inviting parents to join us for a free Infant Massage class as part of our doula staff training through Infant Massage USA.

This gentle class teaches you simple massage techniques that can help your baby relax, sleep better, and bond more deeply with you.

Details

Who can attend: Parents/caregivers with babies birth–12 months

Length: 1 hour

Cost: Free

What you’ll do:

  • Learn calming infant massage techniques
  • Massage your own baby (students do not touch babies)
  • Enjoy a clean, cozy floor space to relax with your little one

Why we offer it: Your participation helps our doulas complete their certification, and gives you a special bonding experience with your baby.

Breastfeeding Basics

This class will cover the basics of breastfeeding. Topics will include:

  • the benefits of breastfeeding
  • how breastfeeding works
  • getting a good latch
  • positions for breastfeeding
  • when to feed baby
  • making sure baby is getting enough milk
  • pumping and storing milk
  • troubleshooting

Participants who attend this class will receive a Haakaa manual breast pump, limited to one per family, and may be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card and can shop in the Baby Boutique.

Please arrive to class on time. Participants will not be allowed into class if more than 15 minutes late.

*Please bring your own water bottle for use with our water dispensers. Snacks will be provided when they are available. Please feel free to bring your own food to class.*

Virtual Breastfeeding Basics

The Welcome Workshop is a class for all program participants who have already completed their in person intake. Please call and schedule your intake prior to taking this class.  During this workshop we will introduce you to our diverse program services, guide you through the sign-up process, and clarify expectations for your participation.  We will also connect you with invaluable community resources to support your family's well-being. You and your family will leave this session understanding the tools we offer to help meet your goals and feel educated and empowered during pregnancy and/or parenting!

Virtual Self Advocacy

Pregnancy is a deeply personal journey, and navigating the healthcare system can be overwhelming. This course is designed to equip expecting parents with the knowledge, confidence, and communication skills needed to advocate for themselves throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care.

Participants will explore:

  • What self-advocacy means in the context of prenatal and birth care.
  • How to communicate effectively with healthcare providers.
  • Creating and using a birth plan to express preferences and values.
  • Strategies for making informed decisions and asking the right questions.
  • Navigating unexpected changes during labor and delivery.
  • Understanding systemic challenges and how to advocate within them, especially for parents from marginalized communities.
  • The role of partners and support people in advocacy.

 

Led by experienced birth professionals, this course offers practical tools, real-life scenarios, and supportive guidance to help parents feel empowered and respected in their care journey. Whether you're planning a hospital birth, home birth, or something in between, this class helps ensure your voice is heard and your choices are honored.
