Our Classes
Basic Life Support-American Heart Association
with Jenica Adams
This course will teach Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED skills. ***This class is free to all eligible participants and does not include a certification card from the American Heart Association. Due to safety reasons, anyone who is 36 weeks pregnant and beyond will not be eligable due to the risk associated with the practice movements required. Class doors will be closed 10 minutes after class starts and those arriving late will need to sign up for the next class.***No children will be allowed to attend due to the nature of the class and the need for participants to practice their skills. Remember to wear something comfortable as this class requires a lot of movement. Participants will be able to shop our baby boutique for free. (Seats for this class are based on single registrations. If partners will be attending together then they will both need to register)
Please bring your own water bottle for use with our water dispensers. Snacks will be provided when they are available. Please feel free to bring your own food to class.
Infant Massage(Only Adult Attendees Need to Complete the Registration)

Please arrive to class on time, doors will close 15 minutes after start time and those arriving late will need to sign up for the next class. You are encouraged to take this class with your newborn to 6 months old, non mobile baby.Our infant massage instructor will discuss the benefits of infant massage for both infants and parents. The instructor will also instruct participants as they engage their babies in a gentle massage. This includes learning the various massage strokes and how to recognize their baby’s cues, as well as massage techniques for gassiness and colic. You may bring an extra receiving blanket and a yoga mat or heavy quilt to put the baby on during the massage, or utilize one of the yoga mats we have available. Seats for this class are individual. If both partners are attending they will both need to register. Each participant who attends may be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card.

The Importance of Play

Play is far more than just fun—it’s a vital part of healthy development for children of all ages. In this engaging and informative class, participants will explore the essential role of play in cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. Through discussion, examples, and hands-on activities, we’ll examine how different types of play (free play, structured play, imaginative play, and physical play) contribute to learning and well-being.

Car Seat Safety Class

Please arrive to class on time, doors will close 15 minutes after start time.This class covers an overview of infant and child car seat safety. We look at 5 types of car seats, how to properly install, and basic techniques to keep every passenger safe.San Antonio Birth Doulas is not a car seat distribution center and therefore car seats will not be given out for this class. Car seats will not be installed during this class, however, there will be an opportunity to practice installing your car seat after class or you may schedule an individual appointment with one of our car seat technicians for assistance. Each participant may be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card.

(Newborn Care in Spanish) Cuidado de recién nacidos
Por favor llegue a clase a tiempo, las puertas se cerrarán 15 minutos después de la hora de inicio.En esta clase se cubre la comprensión de los rasgos y comportamientos del recién nacido, el llanto y el consuelo, la alimentación, el cambio de pañales, el baño, la salud y la seguridad del recién nacido. Los participantes aprenderán qué esperar en el hospital después de que nazca el bebé y recibirán práctica sobre cómo cuidar a su recién nacido una vez que lo lleven a casa. Los participantes podrán inscribirse en el sorteo de una tarjeta regalo.
Postpartum Planning
Please arrive to class on time, doors will close 15 minutes after start time.This class covers what to expect in the postpartum period. This will prepare parents by teaching them what to expect immediately after baby arrives, self care for new moms, as well as how to recognize the signs of postpartum depression. Seats for this class are individual. If both partners are attending they will both need to register.
