Breastfeeding Basics

This class will cover the basics of breastfeeding. Topics will include:
- the benefits of breastfeeding
- how breastfeeding works
- getting a good latch
- positions for breastfeeding
- when to feed baby
- making sure baby is getting enough milk
- pumping and storing milk
- troubleshooting
Participants who attend this class will receive a Haakaa manual breast pump, limited to one per family, and may be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card and can shop in the Baby Boutique.
Please arrive to class on time. Participants will not be allowed into class if more than 15 minutes late.

*Please bring your own water bottle for use with our water dispensers. Snacks will be provided when they are available. Please feel free to bring your own food to class.*
Virtual Breastfeeding Basics

This is a virtual class. Those who sign up must be set up for remote or virtual services. A staff member will contact participants one to two days prior to class to set them up for remote or virtual services. If you miss or do not receive a phone call, please call the office at 210-222-0988 and someone will set you up. The link for class will be sent to virtual participants once they have confirmed their attendance and are set up for virtual services.

Explore techniques for relaxation and alignment to support the birthing process and reduce stress on this crucial group of muscles. Part 3: Postpartum Pelvic Floor Recovery: After birth, your pelvic floor undergoes significant changes. This session provides guidance on healing, regaining strength, and addressing common challenges like incontinence and diastasis recti. Learn practical exercises and self-care methods tailored to your unique postpartum journey.

Empowered Motherhood: Strategies for Emotional Wellness in Postpartum

Empowered Motherhood is a four-week series designed to help expecting mothers navigate the challenges they may face during the early postpartum period.
While this class is not a treatment for Postpartum Depression, it aims to provide participants with an understanding of the normal emotions experienced during the postpartum period, often referred to as the "Baby Blues," and how to recognize when these feelings might indicate something more serious, such as Postpartum Depression. Participants will also gain tools to manage stress during pregnancy and the postpartum period, set boundaries with loved ones, ask for help, communicate their needs, and identify resources for additional support when needed.
Please ensure you arrive on time, as participants arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted.
**This class is exclusively for expectant mothers. To foster a space for open sharing and vulnerability, partners are not permitted to attend. If the class is cancelled for any reason, participants will be notified promptly.**
Postpartum Planning

Please arrive to class on time, doors will close 15 minutes after start time.This class covers what to expect in the postpartum period. This will prepare parents by teaching them what to expect immediately after baby arrives, self care for new moms, as well as how to recognize the signs of postpartum depression. Seats for this class are individual. If both partners are attending they will both need to register.

Welcome Workshop In Person(Please call our office to schedule your in person intake prior to attending this class)
with SABD Doulas

Please arrive to class on time, doors will close 15 minutes after start time.The Welcome Workshop is a class for all program participants who have already completed their in person intake. Please call and schedule your intake prior to taking this class. This is a hybrid class and can be taken in person or virtually. If this class is attended in person you will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card, you can shop the boutique, and you will receive a door prize. During this workshop we will introduce you to our diverse program services, guide you through the sign-up process, and clarify expectations for your participation. We will also connect you with invaluable community resources to support your family's well-being. You and your family will leave this session understanding the tools we offer to help meet your goals and feel educated and empowered during pregnancy and/or parenting!
(Newborn Care in Spanish) Cuidado de recién nacidos

Por favor llegue a clase a tiempo, las puertas se cerrarán 15 minutos después de la hora de inicio.En esta clase se cubre la comprensión de los rasgos y comportamientos del recién nacido, el llanto y el consuelo, la alimentación, el cambio de pañales, el baño, la salud y la seguridad del recién nacido. Los participantes aprenderán qué esperar en el hospital después de que nazca el bebé y recibirán práctica sobre cómo cuidar a su recién nacido una vez que lo lleven a casa. Virtual Baby Sign Language

(Do Not Register Children)
This is an informational class designed to educate parents about the benefits of signing with their baby from an early age. Parents will leave with an understanding of the many benefits of signing with their baby and how to use the most common signs as well as how to incorporate the signs into their daily infant care routines.
Please arrive to class on time. Participants will not be allowed into class if more than 15 minutes late.
